According to NOAA’s last bulletin, JIMENA is now a Category 4 Hurricane with sustained winds of nearly 145/150 mph (~230/240 km/h) with higher gusts. Some fluctuation in its intensity is expected in the next day or two. According to the Monday, August 31st 1100 AM bulletin, the location is 18.1N 108.9W, with a minimum central pressure of 936 MB. There are more than 82 hotel complexes in this area belonging to well-known hotel chains such as RIU, MELIA, BARCELO, HILTON, and it is probable that Hurricane JIMENA will cause serious damage to the installations of these hotels. In addition, it is to be expected that the contents and operation of some generation plants, even though they are located in the North, could also be affected.
